May

Nellie is continuing as she started in the ring. After her Best Baby Puppy in Show under Denise Flaim (USA) - at her second show at 8 months of age she was Runner up in Breed and Minor Puppy in Show at an all breeds show under breed specialist Patrice Johansen. This was followed a few weeks later by BISS at the 2026 RR Club of Vic Open Show, where her mother- Ujamaa Allegro took out Reserve Bitch and Best Head. I’m now off to give a paper at the RR World Congress in Prague at the end of the month, then onto the World Dog Show in Bologna to catch up with some RR friends from around the world. Hopefully the travel will go well.

October/November show results

We show rarely but this has been a good year-

In October Fran Parson’s bitch RUBISS Ch Ujamaa Aurora was Runner up in Show, Best Bitch and Australian Bred in Show at the 2025 Rhodesian Ridgeback National Speciality show under judge Vanessa Moyano from Spain. Her dam Multi BNISS Ch Ujamaa Hot Flamingo- also owned by Fran- was Best Neuter in Show and Best Brace with her daughter.

On the 1st November I was on a plane to Scotland when my niece Cat Glenn showed her bitch Zuri- Ujamaa Allegro- to Best in Specialty Show under breed Specialist Denise Flaim from the USA. Her daughter- our own Nellie- Ujamaa Roaming Eagle- took out Baby Puppy in Show. I particularly enjoyed her critique- "Delicious youngster full of quality, correct ribbing and enviable front fill for a puppy. Fabulous mover."

Puppies were born on 23rd July- 4M, 4F. All going well so far!

Cat and I are delighted to announce that Zuri is now pregnant to the handsome Rocco, son of the well known Italian stud dog IT-INT--SLO-EDS 2018-TOP DOG- ENCI WINNER Harmakhis Wisdom Aurora Floyd. Looking very much like his sire he is a sweet natured handsome boy!

Sadly we lost our lovely Allie on Feb 26th- https://rridgeback.net/allie- at the age of 10 2/3. But she has left a wonderful legacy. We plan to breed her granddaughter Zuri mid year, do get in touch if you wish to go onto the waiting list.

November

Our first show of the year!

Under breed Specialist Anna Lane the very pretty Ch Ujamaa Aurora (Fran Parsons) took out Bitch CC and RUBISS. Ujamaa Reds Swansong (Sarah Glenn) made a yearly show appearance and wont Opposite Australian Bred in Show to the BISS winner- the very nice Ch Mikozi Out of Aces (Dawn Redman). She also won Best Headed and Gaited bitch. Our new boy Ujamaa Xmas Star (Jenny Glenn/Simon Copping) had a lot of fun at his first show and was well shown by Cat to Puppy in Show at morning and afternoon shows. Also Best Brown nose at the afternoon show (Sharon Taylor) against older champion dogs- go Remi!

October

A busy month for those who go to shows. Congratulations to Jess and Fran for the RUBOB and Best dog at the Royal Melbourne Show for Aust Ch, sFCh Ujamaa Dark Side of the Moon (Zekey boy). Zeke is a son of Multi Ch Vizara Jukati and is very much in his fathers image. And a mention to Leslie Fejer’’s boy Aust Champion Marmatia Zimba Sonata (AI) for his continuing successes at Specialty shows

On a mission to find the best possible stud dog for Zuri, Cat, Jenny and I travelled to the World Dog show in Croatia late in April. From the top males in Europe we selectedInter Ch Multi Ch Godsent Muse Delightful Delani (Hati) as the boy to add to our breeding programme. He was selected on the basis of his wonderful temperament, good looks, sound construction and movement, outstanding genetic profile, excellent pedigree, proven record as a sire- and I could go on! Thanks to Natalja Musina for travelling across Europe to enable the semen collection.

Congratulations to Leslie Fejer (Marmatia) on her results at the Queensland Speciality. Her 2 pups from RUBISS Ch Ujamaa Symphony Red (Phoenix) took out Best in Show and Reserve Challenge Bitch making Phoenix winner of Sires Progeny. Well done to Leslie, Phoenix and Fran Parson- owner of Phoenix

Week 8 photos here. They are developing very well and are settling in very nicely in their new homes

Daphne delivered a litter of 13 on 18 December! There are 7m, 6f . Sire was a striking Italian stud dog from the well respected Harmakhis Wisdom kennel- IT-INT--SLO-EDS 2018-TOP DOG- ENCI WINNER Harmakhis Wisdom Aurora Floyd. Thanks to Sara Venturelli for allowing us to use him. For more information he has his own Facebook page or go to this photo. Simon and Jenny are working hard and all are doing well. There are 3 brown nosed boys, which is a bit special. This was a very sound litter- no ridgeless, DS, all ridges acceptable to very good at birth. Lovely rich colours- we are very pleased! This litter has an excellent pedigree with 3/4 European lines- Pedigree here. And no, Grand dad Red was not an English Ch, not sure where this came from!
